Selon les résultats du huitième observatoire sociétal du médicament*, présentés par le Leem le 13 novembre dernier, 77 % des Français font confiance aux médicaments**. « Un chiffre en voie de stabilisation, après une baisse de huit points entre 2015 et 2017 », souligne l’organisation. Les spécialités thérapeutiques remboursées (84 %), prescrites (83 %) et de marque (79 %) sont jugées plus favorablement que les génériques (69 %), les médicaments non remboursés (66 %) ou ceux vendus sans ordonnance (65 %).

Autre enseignement de ce sondage : la cote des vaccins semble remonter dans l’opinion publique. 52 % des participants considèrent les bénéfices supérieurs aux risques, contre 44 % l’an dernier. La catégorie des 25-34 ans connaît même une progression de 18 points cette année (49 %). Les personnes âgées de 65 ans et plus affichent le degré de confiance le plus élevé en la matière (57 %).

 

Les laboratoires suscitent (toujours) la méfiance
Malgré une hausse de deux points, l’image des laboratoires reste pourtant mitigée aux yeux des Français**. Seuls 49 % des répondants leur font confiance. A titre de comparaison, l’industrie pharmaceutique se situe derrière l’aéronautique (77 %) ou le numérique (58 %), mais devant le nucléaire (37 %), la grande distribution (36 %) et la banque/assurance (34 %).

La plupart des personnes interrogées reconnaissent une légitimité aux industriels dans les domaines de la recherche (88 %), des essais cliniques (80 %), de la sécurité des médicaments (79 %) ou de la participation aux discussions sur les enjeux du système de santé (66 %), mais ils doutent de l’éthique (66 %) et de la transparence du secteur (84 %).

 

(*) Ce sondage a été réalisé par l’Institut Ipsos pour le compte du Leem. 1 000 personnes ont été interrogées via internet entre le 28 août et le 5 septembre 2018, sur un échantillon représentatif de la population nationale, âgé de 18 ans et plus.

(**) Les résultats obtenus à partir d’un sur-échantillon de 250 patients chroniques âgés de 18 ans et plus sont meilleurs. Ces derniers font globalement plus confiance aux médicaments (84 %) et aux laboratoires pharmaceutiques (55 %) que les autres personnes sondées.
